In today’s online gambling industry, players are leaning more towards enjoying their favorite casino games on a mobile device rather than computer or laptop. Playing on a mobile is simple. As long as you have an internet connection, you can log online. With a mobile device, you take your gaming on the go. Enjoy table games, slots and more, by simply visiting your favorite online casino on a mobile device.
Because mobile gambling is so popular, every top operator either already offers a mobile application or has one in the works. Mobile applications are created for iOS and Android devices so that players can access gaming with any type of smartphone or tablet. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has announced they are now getting ready to launch a mobile application, just one year after introducing the PlayOLG online gambling website.
The new mobile application will be provided for gamers of PLayOLG who want to enjoy the gaming options via a mobile device. The application will provide customers with the option to play several games including slots, poker and blackjack. When a mobile application is released, it usually offers the most popular games, with a lesser portfolio of options than the desktop version.
Players based in Ontario will be able to enjoy playing casino games against other players from various provinces in Canada with the mobile application. The online casino does not offer this activity presently. The PlayOLG site was launched on the 8th of January and was the first website to be launched by Ontario for online casino gaming.
The site was launched with mixed reactions from the Ontario area including those who were opposed. Those in favor of the online gambling site tried to point out that residents of Ontario were already enjoying online casino gaming in gray markets. With the new online gaming site, the money lost to other countries would be able to stay in Ontario. It was estimated that as many as 500,000 or more residents of Ontario took part in online casino gaming, spending as much as C$500 million.
It has now been close to one year since the launch of the online gaming site, with Ryan Bissonnette, the spokesman for the OLG commented on the product. Bissonnette stated that OLG is pleased with the results of the online gaming site and the more players are logging on to play the casino games as well as purchase their lottery tickets online.
The business plan initially launched by the OLG reported that the corporation expected to bring in as much as C$89 million with the gambling options online for 2015. In his announcement, Bissonnette did not mention how much the OLG was actually able to earn with the online casino gaming for the year.
In general terms, the OLG is able to turn in around C$2 billion to the treasury of Ontario as a gaming corporation and Crown-owned. It has been more than four years since the talks about online gambling in Ontario began, with initial hopes that the PlayOLG site would be up in 2012. However, it would take around three more years before the site would be launched and now the OLG will be launching a mobile application as well.
We will keep track of how the mobile application is accepted and see if the option actually brings in even more revenues for Ontario. One would expect the province to announce what 2015 earned via online gambling and then compare this number later on as the mobile application is launched and used by players who reside in Ontario.
