Battlestar Galactica Game Information

Battlestar Galactica is a space-themed 5-reel 243-pay line online slot from Microgaming. This game is themed around the TV series than ran from 2004 until 2009, which itself was based on a ‘space opera’ TV version that was broadcast in 1978 and 79.

In both series an alien yet human civilisation was all but wiped out by a race of super-evolved robots named the Cylons. One ancient battlestar – the Battlestar Galactica – survived the attack along with a small fleet of other ships. The survivors decided to head home towards the mythical planet that legends said they originated from, which may – or may not – have been Earth.

Battlestar Galactica Gameplay and Symbols

As you’d expect, the symbols in this game are all taken from the TV show aside from the playing card values ten to ace. There are plenty of characters whom will be familiar to fans of the rebooted franchise, including Colonel Saul Tigh, who was played by Michael Hogan, and Hogan pops up in this game in a voice-over capacity.

This game is one of those convenient “all ways pay” games which means there are 243 pay lines in play at all times. Basically, you just have to land a winning sequence with an identical symbol on each adjacent reel from the left-hand side – it doesn’t matter which particular row the winning symbols appears upon.

You can set your coin size from 0.01 to 0.05, and the number of coins you want in play from one to five. All lines are in play at all times, and your bet is your coin size multiplied by the number of coins multiplied by 30. This makes the lowest possible wager 0.30, and the maximum 15.00. Hit the red spin button when you are happy with your bet.

The lowest win is 5x for three tens, and the highest 400x for five of Jamie Bamber as Lee ‘Apollo’ Adama or Katee Sackhoff as the brilliant pilot Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace.

Battlestar Galactica Bonus Features

Wild Symbol: The Battlestar Galactica logo acts as the wild symbol, and is stacked in threes on reel one during normal play and free spins. You can win payouts by landing sequences of wilds on the pay lines, plus the wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols aside from the scatter.

Scatter Symbol: The scatter symbol is a viper ship that’s about to be launched. Landing three or more scatters anywhere on the reels awards you fifteen free spins with a 3x multiplier. Free spins cannot be re-triggered in normal play.

Ion Storm Feature: This feature is triggered randomly. When the ion storm hits the reels, it can turn up to five reels wild, and any winning payouts are then subsequently recalculated and paid.

Run Mode: Things get a little hectic and confusing when run mode is declared and the Battlestar prepares to take flight. All wins now pay both left-to-right and right-to-left, and if the countdown symbol lands on the middle reel it will jump any playing card value and turn it into a mystery symbol.

Fight Mode: Sometimes you just gotta fight. In fight mode random symbols can be turned wild at any time, and wilds can split so they double up, hopefully creating more winning combinations. This is the only time when free spins can be re-triggered.

Battle Galactica Experience Bar: Every time you spin, your experience bar increases and you rise through the ranks from colonel upwards. The further you progress, the more win animations and video content you unlock.

Battlestar Galactica Conclusion

You certainly don’t have to be a fan of the TV series, or even science fiction in general to enjoy this great slots game from Microgaming. There’s certainly a lot going on, and your nerves really do get shredded when an ion storm approaches, or run mode or fight mode is declared.

In the TV series it was revealed that the invading cylons were created by the fleeing human/aliens themselves. Perhaps they should have stuck to making great online slot games like this, instead of world-annihilating killer robots?
