New slot games are being announced by casino software providers all the time, however few announcements (if any) have had the impact that Microgaming’s latest one has had.
Microgaming have just announced via press release that they have signed a licensing agreement with DC Entertainment. If you didn’t already know, DC Entertainment is the holding company for DC Comics – one of the world’s most popular comic book companies, and features super heroes such as Batman!
Yes you’ve guessed it! Microgaming will be creating two Batman video slots, one of which will be released later this year, with the other coming in 2013.
The first of the slot games will be based on the 2008 film blockbuster ‘The Dark Night’. The Dark Night went on to become the third highest-grossing film of all time, generating a staggering $500million revenue from box offices in the US alone – and a whopping $1billion worldwide. This slot game is set for release in the summer of 2012.
The second Batman slot game which Microgaming will create will be ‘The Dark Night Rises’. The film is set to be released on July 20th 2012 and features actor Christian Bale playing the role of Bruce Wayne (Batman himself!). The Dark Night Rises is highly anticipated to be one of biggest films of the year, however slot players will have a little longer to wait until they can play the game as it won’t be released in Microgaming casinos until 2013.
As you can imagine, Microgaming are very pleased to land such a huge licensing agreement and the Chief Executive Officer of Microgaming, Roger Raatgever, had this to say:
“The Batman films are one of the most famous film series in the world, with Batman’s logo internationally recognized.”
He went on to say that he was confident the Microgaming development team would do justice to such a popular character, and is confident that fans of the movies will be pleased with the final, completed version of the slot games.
