Online casino gambling has been in full swing for some time in New Jersey and players continue to take advantage of great gaming options from blackjack to slots and more. Operators also continue to up the ante, offering new and exciting games and events. The Resorts Casino Hotel is one such venue in New Jersey that has opted in to take part in online casino gaming but has been a little late in earning the licensing approvals to operate within the state.
The company has now received approval for full licensing thanks to the Casino Control Commission of the state. The group voted unanimously to give Resorts Digital a casino license, which is a group the owners of the casino created to operate the online casino side of the business.
Resorts had been offering remote gambling since March of this year at the resortscasino.com site and just last month began offering gaming at the mohegansuncasino.com site. The Mohegan Sun is a part-owner of Resorts and wanted to get in on the action. However, officials explained to state regulators that they opened up the casinos with help of two companies outside the state and needed approval for Resorts Digital to take control.
During the Wednesday hearing, the Resorts Chief Financial Officer, Tim Ebling, spoke to the commissioners and stated that the priority is to get the online gaming aspect of the business up and running back in March and this was why the organizational structure was used with the other businesses to begin.
Ebling went on to say that with Resorts Digital taking over, customers will not even notice as the group is totally invisible. The President and CEO of Resorts, Mark Giannantonio, stated that the company was slow to begin with Internet gaming, as opening this year in New Jersey was one year after other operators. But he added the Resorts was the first casino company in the country to open a digital gaming lounge on their very own property. To him, that is the greatest marketing the company has.
Giannantonio states that the casino’s volume of business is made up of close to 50% of brick and mortar Resorts customers. With 58% of them previously being inactive until the resortscasino.com site was created.
Results released by the State Division of Gaming Enforcement on the subject of gambling showed the Resorts earning a 20.8 percent increase in revenues as compared to the same month in 2014. This was the largest increase when compared to the other casinos in Atlantic City.
Resorts is definitely going to try and up their game, putting a competitive edge to the industry. Other casinos in the state have more experience and time spent operating online in the state, but Resorts is slowly catching up. It will be interesting to see if Resorts will be able to give the big dogs a run for their money such as with the Borgata casino.
Only time will tell if Resorts will become a major player in the online casino game in the state of New Jersey. Earning the licensing for Resorts Digital certainly helped their chances to be a big component in the industry. We continue to watch the online casino and poker industry of New Jersey to see how they fare when compared to Delaware and Nevada in regards to online gaming. For now, only these three states offer some form of online gambling in the United States. However, additional states are working on legislation to join in.
