André the Giant Game Information

André the Giant is a super-sized 5-reel 25-pay line slot from NextGen Gaming. The unusual theme of this slot centres on the eponymous André the Giant himself, who was a French pro wrestler and WWF champion and occasional actor. André (born André René Roussimoff in Grenoble, France in 1946) was a mightily impressive character who stood at 7 ft 4 in and weighed 520 pounds.

André joined the WWF in 1973 and won the world title in 1988. He also had a fondness for acting and appeared in The Six Million Dollar Man in the 1970s as a Sasquatch, and most notably as the giant Fezzik in the 1987 movie The Princess Bride.

André the Giant retired from wrestling in 1992 but sadly passed away a year later, aged 46.

André the Giant Gameplay & Symbols

The André the Giant slot is one in the traditional, five-reel style with 25 possible pay lines. It concentrates purely upon André’s wrestling career, so no princess brides are likely to turn up on the reels. The symbols are all wresting-associated: masks, wrestling rings, referees, chairs, tickets, WWF belts, hot dogs and portraits of Andre himself.

All twenty-five lines are selectable, so you choose exactly how many you want in play. You can also choose the size of your coin, from 0.01 to 1.00. Your wager is these two items multiplied together, and of course the more lines you have in play, the higher your chances of winning. Your lowest possible wager per spin is 0.01, and your highest is 25.00.

There are a number of possible payouts, and you land a knock-out blow (okay, so technically, that’s boxing) by landing three or more identical symbols in sequence on an active pay line from the left hand reel.

The lowest payout is for three tickets or hot dogs at 5x your bet-per-line, through to the jackpot of 5,000x for five red-masked wrestlers.

André the Giant Bonus Features

André the Giant Goes Wild Feature: André himself appears on reels two and four and when he lands for you, he ‘goes wild’, slams his foot, shakes the game and expands to fill the entire reel. The wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols to create winning pay lines, except for scatter symbols.

André the Giant Scatter Symbol: The ‘André the Giant’ logo appears on all reels, and landing at least two anywhere on the reels wins you a cash payout. The more you land the more you win, plus if you land three or more you win ten free games with the Battle Bout Bonus (see below).

André the Giant Battle Bout Bonus: This bonus feature is only available during free spins. During free spins you collect ‘special move’ symbols that are available on reel five – the head butt, the bear hug, the chop and the choke. The more special moves you collect, the better off you will be!

Once the free spins have finished, it’s time for you to enter the wrestling ring yourself.

In the Battle Bout bonus you get to choose from one of three opponents: Voltage Van Zandt, Flame Bro and Jimmy Iron Legs. You’re then taken through to the ring, where you can use the special moves you gained during free spins to attempt to take a whizz on your wrestling opponent’s corn flakes.

If you manage to gain three hits or more, you can choose one of André the Giant’s signature moves to wrestle your opponent to the canvas and finish him off.

Every time you hit your opponent successfully, you win an additional amount of cash that’s equivalent to the money you won during free spins.

André the Giant Conclusion

André the Giant was clearly not a man to be wrestled with, unless you yourself were a pro wrestler, or you were about eight feet tall, weighed around six hundred pounds and had no fear of death, pain or even spiders.

The André the Giant slot is perhaps not as much a heavyweight in the world of online slots as André was in the WWF, but this game is still fun to play, and there are skull-crushing jackpots to be had. Just make sure you get out of the way when André goes wild!
